Highlights of Mike’s Career:
• Collegiate Coaching Success: As the head coach at George Washington University from 1976 to 1980, Mike led the team to a commendable 102-82 record. Notably, his 1979 squad clinched the ECAC championship and secured an NCAA Tournament appearance.
• Professional Scouting Excellence: Mike’s scouting career spans several Major League Baseball organizations, including the San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, New York Mets, Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, and Kansas City Royals. His keen eye for talent has been instrumental in signing players who advanced to the Major Leagues, such as catcher Kirt Manwaring and pitcher Mike Venafro.
• World Series Champion: While with the Kansas City Royals, Mike’s scouting acumen contributed to the team’s 2015 World Series victory. His evaluations were pivotal in acquiring key players, including outfielder Lorenzo Cain and shortstop Alcides Escobar, both of whom played significant roles in the Royals’ championship run.
• Hall of Fame Inductee: In recognition of his outstanding contributions to baseball, Mike was inducted into the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame in 2019.
